Port City Gallery is now accepting exhibition proposals for our March 2015 – March 2016 season.

Port City Gallery will be planning its 2015 – 2016 season to feature 6 exhibitions of contemporary work from local creatives, collectives and organizations. We are also opening proposals for exhibition programming to graduate students, senior undergraduate students and faculty from art programs at local universities. Any and all forms of creative endeavor are encouraged to apply, with particular attention given to those who consider and compliment the mission and operations of ProjectGrow’s studio space.

About ProjectGrow

ProjectGrow is a fine art and urban farming program serving adults with developmental disabilities located in Northeast Portland. Our program provides a space for those with a wide range of abilities to explore personal expression through an array of artistic mediums, as well as gain skill and experience working on an organic farm with an emphasis on sustainability.

Our studio and working space contains materials and supplies to support art-making in a number of different mediums including acrylic and watercolor painting, weaving and fiber arts, ceramics, sculpture, digital photography, film-making and performance art. Ours is a space where creativity is fostered and supported and where few limits are placed on the projects artists choose to undertake.

ProjectGrow aims to create a shared art experience through connection with other artists in the community and in the greater art world. Trips to galleries and other art studios provide inspiration and encourage engagement and collaboration with fellow artists.

ProjectGrow is one of five programs of Port City, a non-profit organization which supports individuals with developmental diversities. Port City is one of the many organizations of Albertina Kerr Centers, which has strengthened Oregon families and communities since 1907 through a multitude of programs and services for both children and adults.

About Port City Gallery

Port City Gallery is a multi-functional artspace in NE Portland. Operating as part of ProjectGrow, the space regularly exhibits multi-disciplinary work from local, national and international artists in an effort to integrate work of practicing contemporary artists into the ProjectGrow program. Artists are also invited to host workshops with ProjectGrow artists to further explore their practice in a collaborative, experiential manner.

Port City Gallery is located at 2156 N Williams Ave, and open to the public Monday thru Friday, 9AM – 4PM, with extended hours for special events.  Workshops take place each week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 to Noon. Proposals should consider our daily use of the gallery space. See below for a floor plan of Port City Gallery.

Proposal Requirements

Please respond with the following information:

1. Artist Name / Group Name

2. Sample Images ( 5 - 10 ) or URL of portfolio / video / media that adequately describes your practice or proposal

3. Description of the Proposed Exhibition (500 words or less)

4. Physical Requirements / Installation Materials

5. A short statement of how the proposed exhibition supports the ProjectGrow mission (250 words or less)

6. One-page CV (if an individual) or description of Group / Collective / Organization’s history

7. Optional: Additional proposal of a workshop idea to coincide with the proposed exhibition

Our resources are finite and our budget is mainly allocated towards maintaining our studio space and farm. Due to these limitations, applications that include a budget outline that provides a plan for minimizing or absorbing costs of executing the proposed exhibition are most competitive.

Due to the multi-functional aspect of the gallery space and its integration with the ProjectGrow program, proposals containing controversial subject matter, including artwork with themes of overt sexuality or violence will not be accepted.

Proposals or questions about this exhibition opportunity should be sent via email or post-marked to:

ProjectGrow, 2124 N Williams Ave, Portland OR 97227
