WILD TORUS is a collaborative platform of Brooklyn-based artists, led by M†ke Vladi VØztok and Amÿ Almá Corazón, who work to create chaotic, cult action happenings within sophisticated, multi-sensory installations. Currently, WT is seeking 2 ambitious assistants with a background in performance, sound, and/or art to help organize and execute our shows. The position offers involvement in creating a shared, collective experience with large audiences through digital and physical sublimation. WT hosts these experiences in alternative art spaces in Brooklyn and the surrounding area. The experience brings together a collaboration of artists who span the mediums of live performance ritual, experimental sound and video projection, interactive movement, immersive environment installation, collective dance, and daring costume design. Specific ritual icons that are celebrated in the experience include the contemporary spectacles of globalization, Internet communication, and spiritual and occult practices. The experience is called a Digital Spirit Cycle and can be further read about http://rhizome.org/discuss/view/208402/">here.

WT can offer school credit for interns, with the opportunity of pay for special projects. Responsibilities in addition to general assistance in planning for the experiences include carrying out PA duties, operating the door entry, managing performers, taking documentary footage and photo/video editing, promoting online and around the city, and creatively upkeeping WT’s online identity. There will also be opportunities to perform on stage. Experiences typically occur at night twice a month on Wednesday, plus 1-3 additional shows per month. Ideal candidates must be available for these. Additional hours are more flexible. Candidates are pursuing a college or master’s degree, or are ambitious individuals outside of school looking for a committed position in alternative visual and sound performance. They must have a strong work ethic, an open mind, and a love for excitement!

Interested candidates should send a resume and letter of interest to wildtorus@aol.com anytime before Friday, Jan 10. WT’s next show is Wed, Jan 22 so the internship will start before then. Please email questions if necessary. WT is an equal opportunity employer.
