The 20th COLLISIONcollective exhibition will open at the Boston Cyberarts Gallery (Boston, MA) on Friday, January 17, 2014. Formed by artists and technologists, the COLLISIONcollective is premised on the sometimes abrupt intersection between art and technology. Its practitioners are drawn to this synthesis as the epicenter of forward-looking cultural adaptation. Boston Cyberarts Gallery is a non-profit space focusing on new and experimental media.
Dates
The deadline for submissions is 11:00 PM ET (GMT-5:00), Sunday, December 15, 2013. Judging will be final by December 22, 2013, with notifications emailed the same day The show is scheduled for installation on January 11-15, 2014. Opening will be 6-9 PM, Friday, January 17, 2014. The show will be up for 6 weeks, coming down on February 23, 2014.

In order to submit, first add yourself as a website user (if you haven't already done so for a prior submission), log in, and then use the My Submissions navigation link to submit your proposal. After initially submitting, you can edit your proposal up until the submission deadline of 11:00 PM Sunday, December 15, 2013.
We are looking for work that pairs art and technology in a thought provoking and visually engaging manner. We’re particularly interested in pieces that use technology to facilitate art, or art to observe technology from a novel perspective, preferably some combination of the two. Boundary-pushing is desired and respected. Works that address, rather than use, technology on a conceptual level may also be considered. The quality of your submission is the single most important factor when judging the work. Please include images, video and complete textual descriptions. Please explain your thinking in a clear and succinct manner. Pieces should be reliable, durable, and safe. Multiple submissions are fine, but generally only one piece per person will be accepted. You may submit a proposal for a piece yet to be realized, but the likelihood of its completion will be considered during judging. The Cyberarts Gallery will comfortably house moderately-sized artworks and installations, but space is somewhat limited. Please limit your proposed work a maximum size of 8*8*8 feet (2.4*2.4*2.4 meters). There are a limited number of projection areas. Rear projection pieces are particularly hard accommodate. The gallery is located adjacent to a public train station and there is a lot of ambient noise from the trains and the station PA system. As such it is not suitable for some audio works.

Please take these as a general guide to the genre covered, but not as a limitation of your creative parameters. We want to see your ideas!
Stipulations and red tape
Travel and shipping: Artists are responsible for delivery, pickup, and installation of all work. If you are not in the Boston area and you need us to install your work, you may mail your ready-to-hang work to us in a secure container but you will need to pay for all shipping and insurance, both to and from the gallery. Transit to and from the exhibition is the responsibility of the artist. Functionality and suitability: Artwork accepted for the show must work as described in the proposal. Artwork that differs significantly from the submission in form or function may be removed from the show at the discretion of the curators and gallery owner. Artists will be expected to be available for technical support of their work if that is required.
