What is Nu Europe?

Is there such a thing as European culture? Isn't it a generalization that sometimes we say how Americans think of us? As if we were one big country with local variations? Globalization has strengthened local cultures and information technology has given them the exposure and followers. For example: you're a part of a small group, let's say 500 people living in yurts on an island on a lake, believing in water reflections, celebrating tides and making clothes out of fish scales. Outside of the island you have 5m followers on Twitter. How big is your culture then? Europe has changed along with its expansion and globalization through technology and free migration; hence we believe that it has helped a new sort of culture to emerge as a result of various experiences and cultural exchange between people. The core of those developing pan-European cultures is large cities that, for many years, have been attracting young people to settle in - find partners and jobs. Those two factors are mostly responsible for creating truly cross-cultural environments where people have to negotiate their cultural habits and learn the customs of others.

We're looking for artists from any European country that can deliver an experience to the audience of the festival through interactive/experiential art. The experience must be a commentary on the European culture(as per above definition) and the change in it since 2004.

Work can be indoor or outdoor. For indoor please bear in mind that it may be exhibited near sources of loud sound(concert stage etc), for outdoor the art piece would be exhibited only during the day(so light/laser may not perform well). Artists will have to be available during the installation and de-installation of the artworks.

Interested artists should submit

• Existing or new work proposal. Each should have a short description and preferably a demo video either of the actual work or prototype, comprehensive list of requirements (production, installation, transport, etc.)
• Artist Info: Name, Address, Phone, Email Address, Website Address
• Artist Bio (brief paragraph), statement and portfolio URL (only submissions with link to portfolio will be eligible)
• Budget (for installing or creating new piece of art). Our budget is not massive so we're not looking for large scale multi-million dollar installations, rather big on storytelling and on experience.
