Calling all filmmakers and moving image artists –

Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival is now open for submissions, and this year we're launching our inaugural Best Short film Award, sponsored by Inntravel!

Our theme for this year is North by Northeast; as we explore Berwick’s Nordic roots, and our region’s historical, cultural and travel links with Northern Europe and with the North Sea that connects us.

Now in our ninth year, the Festival will once again transform the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed into one big cinema screen through a programme of film premieres, site-specific installations, and live events in locations across Berwick-upon-Tweed and along the town walls. 

Artists and filmmakers are welcome to submit moving image works of all types and lengths, in response to our theme, North by Northeast, for consideration.

As part of our call for submissions, we’re thrilled to be launching our first ever award for Best Short Film, sponsored by Inntravel. Artists and filmmakers will compete for a cash prize of £500 (approx €570), awarded by a Jury on the night. All single screen films that respond to the theme, and are up to 16 minutes in length, will automatically be considered for selection for the Inntravel Short Film Competition.

The final deadline for submissions is 28th June, and the programme will be announced mid-August.

The Festival is set to return Wednesday 25th – Sunday 29th September 2013.
