What does it mean for a live piece of art to be continually in the present tense?
If a performance piece is to transcend spatiotemporal limitations and engage with a wider audience it must be able to be documented or replicated in some manner.
Participants are encouraged to work with the act of capturing a live moment in time with the act of documentation and re-creation being a fundamental aspect of the work itself.
Multidisciplinary pieces, combining elements of digital media and live performance, will be given preference.
Specifications: Pieces should be between 5 & 15 minutes long. You will perform your piece twice, once on October 3rd and once on October 4th, so you will literally be re-creating your piece.
Proposals should include links to documentation of previous work, a short bio, and specific technical requirements.
Artists should submit proposals electronically to Continuouspresenttense@gmail.com.
Travel and lodging are the responsibility of the artist(s).
Deadline for proposals: March 15, 2013. Participating artists will be notified by April 1st.
