I am creating a stop-motion animated video of faces of people who have been touched by war: soldiers, survivors, victims, resistance, surviving family members and witnesses, from different centuries and continents. This project is dependent on what photographic portraits I have access to.

The image I use as an example is my interpretation of Uriel Sinai's beautiful photograph of Auschwitz survivor Alegra Shami.  Some of the portraits will be painted and some drawn.

If you have a photograph of family members or friends who you would like to be included in this video please sent a photo of them to lisa@lisaqualls.com.  I will create a drawing or a painting from the photograph. The photograph must be a close up of the face and shoulders but I can work with some low res images.  You are welcome to include names and their stories although that information will not be visible in the video.  The video is being made for inclusion in a group show called "Shadows and Dirt", which will premiere at Houston Community College and travel to venues to be announced later.

The video will be online as well, both through my website and youtube.

If you send me a photo to work from I will notify you when the project is finished. Thank you for your participation.
