Are you a pioneer, looking for innovation? Would you like to meet inspiring people who really have something to say? Is it time for confrontation and intensification? Do you long for time and space to develop yourself? Then this is the moment to apply to the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht (NL).

The Jan van Eyck Academie is an international post- academic art institute that offers space to ambitions, plans and work of artists, designers, writers, curators, thinkers. The Jan van Eyck Academie has a long history of recurrent development. Now, once more, the institute finds itself at the crossroads of change, which will be shaped with its new participants, from 1 January 2013.

That is why the Jan van Eyck Academie is looking for pioneers, trailblazers with the ambition to make the academy into the post-academy of the future.

We welcome applications by visual artists in the widest sense (photographers, performers, painters, thinkers, video artists, draughtsmen, film makers, etc.), by designers in the widest sense (landscape architects, graphic designers, urban planners, etc.), by curators, by essayists. They can work on individual projects or on collective intensification themes.

What they share is an inquisitive, reflexive attitude, a sense of initiating, the belief in the power and possibilities of fine art and its importance for society. They share the ambitions of the Jan van Eyck Academie, which wants to be a hybrid place for experiment, research, study, production, encounters – a place where art and world, societal issues and artistic responses can converge.

The Jan van Eyck Academie offers its participants a studio, a stipend, a working and programme budget, an open working environment and a stimulating community with experienced tutors, as well as a number of well-equipped and expertly run Labs where participants can work, experiment and study at will.

Deadline: 15 November 2012
