Why does Boston produce such an immense number of young artists and yet retain so few of them? Recent discussions of this issue, such as Michael Braithwaite's often cited article, http://thephoenix.com/boston/arts/142603-gone-begging-%E2%80%93-why-boston-artists-leave-and-how-t/" target="_blank">"Gone Begging," have pointed to an ever growing, vibrant community of young artists that thirsts for greater opportunities and more connections with established artists and spaces. This show is intended to be the first of many annual yBos exhibitions yet to come, which will highlight the outstanding talent of undergraduate artists in Boston, and in doing so introduce them to the community of established artists and spaces in the city. The Harbor Gallery has been a student-run exhibition space for over thirty years on the campus of UMass Boston, and is proud to host this important exhibition from December 6 - 20, 2012. The opening reception will be held on December 6 from 5-8 pm.
