A@R is an innovative 4,500 sq ft community multi-arts space in the former outpatient building of the Greenpoint Hospital in North Brooklyn. We are part of St. Nicks Alliance, a neighborhood non-profit that offers programs in affordable housing, workforce development, economic development, home care and youth benefiting low and moderate income individuals and families.

A@R is seeks 2 community-based visual artists to participate in our studio residency program.  Participating artists will be granted raw studio space from September 20th through December 31st. Artists are responsible for all material costs and installation. Proposals with strong artistic merit from artists with a direct and tangible connection to the North Brooklyn community are preferred.  Please note that for this program, residency applications are limited to artists who live in North Brooklyn.

The application deadline is August 28th and the residencies will be announced on September 5th. No late entries will be accepted.

A@R provides free access to one of the spaces listed below from 9 am – 3p, 7 days a week, and provides staff assistance during normal business hours, Monday- Friday. Artists are welcome to alter the space on the condition that it is returned to its original condition at the end of the residency.
