Out Of The Circle arts residency is in an apartment in an Egyptian family building in Mohandessin area in the heart of great Cairo. The apartment contain Out Of The Circle curator studio and two arts residency for visual artists (Egyptian and international female artists) of all media. The international artist get a living space and a studio, with shared kitchen facilities and bathroom. We do encourage international artists of all media to apply by maximum mid of august for year 2013.

WHY did we choose arts residency in Mohandessin !?

Mohadessin has been subject to a constantly transformation, although it was founded only 55 years ago. During this time many economical, political and social changes occurred. In cause of the Egyptian revolution in 1952 the population increased by the emigrants from the rural villages. The district turn from a scenically villa neighborhood to a crowded social residential block district. Later Mohandessin became an attraction point for new business due to its location and the efficient connection to the infrastructure of Cairo. In the last 10 years it is turning into a high dense central business district. Many Egyptian families moved to Mohandessin in 1970/80 and belt their family houses. Till now they still living here with their families and keeping with them the history of the area and the modern history of Cairo.
