Samandal is teaming up with the Arab Image Foundation (AIF) for a special issue for publication in October 2012.

Comics artists, illustrators and writers are invited to produce comics based on images from the AIF’s collection, which contains more than 500,000 photographs from Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Iraq, Iran and the Arab Diaspora from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day. 

You are welcome to explore the AIF image database to find inspiration and create stories, to redraw photographs or incorporate them into comic strips and blur lines between fact and fiction, history and storytelling.
