http://thisisscrapped.com/index2.html" target="_blank">Scrapped Magazine, launching in April 2012, gathers emerging artists working in all media to contribute both curated and commissioned work based on a quarterly theme for each issue. We present artistic endeavor and interpretation by not only showcasing the current work of talented emerging artists, but also by commissioning original work for Scrapped. For each issue, artists are selected to work either independently or collaboratively to make pieces inspired by the issue’s chosen theme. We especially value interdisciplinary art collaborations: poetry paired with painting, photography with sculpture, drawing with short fiction.

Our goal is to move beyond the confines of reading a physical magazine; much like a scrapbook, Scrapped aims to provide readers with a dynamic experience of interacting with artists’ work. For this reason, we focus chiefly on the web as a viewing platform for Scrapped while additionally publishing a small edition of printed copies of each issue. Virtual and physical issues of the magazine provide different ways of approaching the work; while the webzine has total accessibility, we foresee the limited edition print runs of each issue becoming collectible art objects in their own right.

Submission Guidelines
Our first issue’s theme is “Hit It” which we see as an unrestricted exploration of desire and ambition, though we definitely encourage individual interpretation.

Please send submissions to submissions[at]scrappedmag.com: a maximum of 5 images at 72 dpi, 10 inches on the longest side. Written work should be in PDF.”
