Open call for research and creative residencies

Cal Gras is a house in Avinyó (Bages), a village of 2,200 inhabitants located in the heart of Catalonia, between Manresa and Vic, a rural setting one hour from Barcelona.
The centre has several workshops and rooms adapted for research, experimental and creative projects. The centre is designed to provide temporary accommodation to individuals and collectives, offering bedrooms, and a communal kitchen and dining room.
We pay special attention to the interaction between residents and the region, facilitating exchange and cultural dialogue.
 
Further information:
1.    Objective: Open Call for residencies at Cal Gras  for the development of creative projects.
2.    Eligibility: artists from all fields (visual arts, performing, literary, musical and thought) to work and develop their creative projects at Cal Gras. Groups up to 5 people.
3.    Duration: working residency of 7 days minimum to 90 days maximum during August to December 2011
4.    Residency includes:
a.    Free accommodation in single or shared room(on request), with use of common spaces (kitchen, living rooms, etc.).
b.    Work spaces, meeting rooms, library, wifi. See the rooms' features on the centre's website
c.    The centre puts residents in touch with the locality, as well as place them in contact with services and providers of material required for projects.
d.    Possibility of exhibition at Cal Gras, or other local premises, of work accomplished during residency (debates, presentations, performances, workshops, etc.)..

****** Transport costs and other expenses must be paid by the artist.
5.    Applications: artists are invited to send proposals to CAL GRAS - c/ de Francesc Macià, 1 – 08279 Avinyó (Barcelona), or to serveis@calgras.cat, indicating “Residency+artist's name/group name”and attaching the following documents:
a.    A single document with:
i.    Contact details for the nominated project leader ( with  photocopy of ID or passport )
ii.     Number of participants at the residence, with name/s (max 5).
iii.    Preferred dates for the residence and alternative dates.
iv.    Space required
b.    Description of Creative project proposal, maximum of 3 pages, including a proposed activity open to the public in the centre or the locality (open doors, lecture, exhibition, performance, workshop, etc.).
c.    Sample of work (through link or a maximum of 3 attachments).
6.    Selection and calendar:
a.    Applications  may be submitted until 12th June 2011.
b.    Successful applicants will be contacted individually by email on 30th June 2011 and the list will be posted on the web.
c.    Selection committee is composed of the centre's management team, a member of Associació Cultural Cal Gras and  Oriol Fontdevila (art curator).
ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
Participants in the  open call must accept the above conditions, and must abide by the centre's final decision as well as alterations in arrangements brought on by circumstances outwith the control of the Cal Gras management team after this acceptance.
