JURIED OPEN CALL EXHIBITION: “Going Green” Crossing Art Gallery (QUEENS, NEW YORK)

Crossing Art Gallery is seeking submissions for "Going Green" a juried group exhibition of local and international artists that will be on view at Crossing Art Gallery from August 13 – September 11, 2011. From the artists chosen for the “Going Green” exhibition, 2 artists will be selected to have a solo exhibition at Crossing Art Gallery in 2012 and have the option to participate in the Crossing Art Artist Residency Program in Nanjing, China.
“Going Green” will present innovative artworks and proposals that integrate natural systems with human patterns while celebrating continuity, uniqueness and place making. We are looking for local and international artists, architects, and designers to submit either artworks that explore contemporary meanings of “green” or proposals for sculptures, architectural models and design that fit in green development public spaces.
Work submitted should have the power to transform, inspire or promote public awareness of green initiatives. Themes can range from the meaning of the color green to the green political party to issues concerning eco-systems, conservation, recycling and sustainability to what green cities might look like or what a green lifestyle might consist of. All creative persons are invited to submit any artwork or proposal that evokes some form or concept of “green”. All media is acceptable including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, performance, installation, video and sculpture.
You must submit an application form, CD (please download an application form and CD checklist from http://www.crossingart.com/">www.crossingart.com and follow instructions) and an entry fee of $40. All entry fees will be donated to the non-profit art organization, Queens Council on the Arts. QCA provides support to arts organizations and individual artists in presenting their cultural diverse programs for the benefit of the community.
