Dwell seeks to blur the boundary between sculpture and the built environment. The Contemporary Artists Center, Woodside will accept a wide-range of related and minimally tangential entries including but not at all limited to themes as diverse as politics of housing, formal aesthetics, architecture, sustainability and ‘shelters’ for site specific performative happenings. Three to six artists will be selected for the duration of the series.
Entries may be either existing artwork or proposals for commissions All artwork will be installed in an exterior location (both woodland and lawn space are available. http://www.cactroy.org/dwellsite.php">overview pic here), and subject to the elements. 2-D, 3-D and 4-D work accepted A budget of $2,000-5,000 is available for project based proposals. Artist must be available to build at least some portion of a ‘proposed project’ on site. Budget includes up to 30 days of housing at the Artists Center and access to CAC Woodside tools and installation staff.
*note the more closely the proposed project resembles a ‘housing structure’ the more likely it will need to fit below the building code parameters of a 140 sq ft footprint limit. However there is no size limitation for work in general.
