St. Nick’s Alliance, a community organization serving North Brooklyn, is seeking submissions for COMMON GROUND, a group exhibition in its new community arts space, Arts@Renaissance.
Arts@Renaissance is housed at 2 Kingsland Ave off the Graham Avenue L stop in the old outpatient clinic of the Greenpoint Hospital, now the Renaissance Center of North Brooklyn, with approximately 3,000 sq. ft. of open space for exhibition. This summer Arts@Renaissance hosted NorthBrooklyn, its inaugural show, which brought together the work of 32 visual artists and 20 performing artists living in the area.
Our next exhibit COMMON GROUND will showcase art and art projects about North Brooklyn, including work that explores community, people and places in Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Bushwick, as well as work that speaks to a general sense of place. The exhibition will open at the space on September 24, 2010, and run until mid-October 2010.
All artists/media are welcome, as long as the work addresses North Brooklyn. Work may be in traditional media, or may be performative or site-specific projects or interventions with documentation. Site-specific installation work is also possible at the space, which includes many interesting rooms. Photos and more information can be found at www.renaissancenbk.org.
Interested artists should submit the following no later than Wednesday, September 1, 2010:
A description of the work you are submitting including: medium and size or specifications/technical needs description of the work short artist statement (Please title file LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_SUBMIT.doc)
Up to 5 images (jpg or gif, 72 dpi) or up to 5 minutes of video of the work you are submitting [For images, include an image list & Title image files LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_IMAGE#.jpg or .gif. For video, provide link to website (sorry, no files). If images or video of the work you are submitting are not available, please use the specs above to submit up to 5 images or up to 5 minutes of video of past works.]

Send submission to arts@stnicksalliance.org with the subject line “Common Ground Submission.” Artists will be notified by the first full week of September and will need to be available September 17-20 to deliver the work.
