Norms, standards, net weights and mediocrity pervade our everyday thinking about the world. Yet, how much room is there for individual expressions? Under the heading "100g Durchschnitt, bitte!" -- a German saying for 'the regular' -- the Chemnitz-based "Begehungen e.V." is calling for applications to its seventh art and culture festival. A novelty in this year's run is an Art Prize that carries a value of 1000 Euros. It will be awarded to an applicant artist at the end of the festival. To register for the festival you need to apply via a web-based form on our website http://www.begehungen-chemnitz.de" target="_blank">www.begehungen-chemnitz.de. Our call for apllications addresses up and coming artists from any genre. At least one of the artist's works to be included in the application should address the festivals motto and deal with the term and ideas concernig "standards". From August 19 to 22, the festival will take place in the unoccupied Karl-Liebknecht-School near the city center. Each applicant artist is free to arrange his exhibition in one room or outside of the building.

Normstandards, Nettogewichte und Mittelmaße bestimmen unseren Alltag. Doch wie viel Individualität lassen diese Maße noch zu? Unter dem Thema "100 g Durchschnitt, bitte!" schreibt das Chemnitzer Kunst- und Kulturfestival "Begehungen" zum siebten Mal seine Bewerbungsphase aus. Neu in diesem Jahr ist der mit 1000 Euro dotierte Kunstpreis, welcher am Ende des Festivals an einen der ausstellenden Künstler verliehen wird.
Bis zum 31. Mai sind Einreichungen von jungen bildenden Künstlern aller Genres unter http://www.begehungen-chemnitz.de" target="_blank">www.begehungen-chemnitz.de für die Ausstellung möglich. In ihrem Inhalt sollte sich mindestens ein Werk mit dem Begriff "Durchschnitt" im weitesten Sinne auseinandersetzen. Das Festival findet vom 19. bis 22. August in der seit 3 Jahren leer stehenden Karl-Liebknecht-Schule im Stadtzentrum statt. Jeder Künstler hat die Möglichkeit einen Raum des Gebäudes zu bespielen.
