Created by Sharpcut Visual Arts Project and held annually at the Italian Cultural Institute in London, this photography and video art award is open to artists of all nationalities based in Italy and the United Kingdom, under 35 years of age.

Renaissance Arts Prize 2010 - The Heroism of Vision draws inspiration from a chapter of Susan Sontag’s famous essay On Photography and from the life of Italian artist Mario Giacomelli. Participants are invited to submit work in response to the theme and to selected quotes proposed in the regulations.

The jury, headed by Dr. Alessandra Masolini, is formed by Alessio Antoniolli, Director of Gasworks and Triangle Arts Trust - London, Andrew Brown, Senior Strategy Officer for Visual Arts - Arts Council England, and artist Shoko Maeda,  winner of the 2009 Renaissance photography awards.
