My goal as an artist is to use imagery to penetrate the veneer of everyday appearances, to activate and bring to the surface latent and surprising possibilities within. I am inspired by settings in the urban environment, and in them I see a vivid contemporary folklore. By engaging in a playful physics, I can animate each element with new meaning. Tilting planes upward against gravity, building with crooked walls, quilting together fields of color, overflowing patterns, and pasting words from signs onto building facades like poetry, I work in a constantly shifting pictorial space.
