About

I am mostly an sculptor, but as in my sculptures I tend to mix medias I also do so in my art life: Then I write, install, perform in my openings and make fotobasura (I take trash-pictures in super low quality, I mean)
I am pretty much interested (in fact I can't help it, so it's more a compulsion than a decission) in questioning the way we think, live, act and construct so I find my own way of doing so by transforming trash into art. This is my own private way of fighting.

Using the stuff people throw away to make my art pieces is a way of resignifying those objects and its functions, and off course, ourselves. Besides, since I was a kid I have always had a double vision: cables were cables, but also veins, the texture originated in the fact of burning plastic had the aspect of living tissue, the Barbie dolls were monsters and the circuits were cities or even green flesh if treated with fire.

Now, empowered by WOOLOO, you can enjoy my current & latest production: this series of creatures that comes from the bottom of my mental ocean. Made of 100% fantasticTRASH, they are a strange mix between animals, machines & humans. the ALL NYLON creatures are rising and they cry out:

- we are the quintessence of poor art!

My Statement

I was about to start my statement by saying “I am really interested in questioning the way we are as culture and individuals” but the fact is that I can’t help doing so.
As time goes by I am more convinced that it is not a question of interest as I believe art is a force that just takes you. And this has nothing to do with paranormal events. It is just the way it is and I have found out art is my way of fighting.

I have made myself as artist and since I did not study strictly art but design, I have joined art in my own way: not painting, not sculpting in traditional ways, not filming, but constructing creatures out of trash. This use of trash is a genuine political stand. As South American artist I firmly believe in my poor art manifesto that consists in the using of discarded things exclusively. I am not allowed (by myself, funny thing) to buy anything to construct my hybrid beings. In Argentina, a country in which lots of people are forced to make a living out of trading what they find in the street, I feel that this is my way of facing art: using exclusively trash. This is my very way of fighting.

Last but not least, I am still wondered by this strange animal we are, capable of construct, of using tools, of speaking and with the great power of invent and destroy worlds. During my Hotel Frenesí (Frenzy Hotel) exhibit a couple was looking at my self-portrait called The Motor-Maker made of recycled aluminum, toys, nylon and human teeth. I heard the man say “This is monster”
Then I thought: aren’t we all?
