Forty Acres
Using GPS and their M1 tank/mobility scooter “Bare Bones”, The Klines “liberated” forty acres on the Bonneville Salt Flats without firing a shot on July 27, 2006, marking the property with a thin red line drawn behind the tank. After erecting a flag, they exercised their mineral rights by mining salt from “FORTY ACRES”. Marking the land brought a strangely authentic pride of ownership, a feeling for the wonder and desperation of early settlers and recognition of the vast physical changes to the local topograph...

We create artworks that reflect on political, economic and social issues through unusual presentation and context. Because the works are based on ideas, the media varies from project to project. We believe that artists (and audiences) are at their best when working beyond their comfort zones. For this reason, we often venture toward media with which we are unfamiliar or untested.
