Graham Slick was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania (US) in 1975. While a student at the University of Massachusetts he studied photography, computer art, civil engineering, and almost had a minor in math. In 1998 he moved to New York City. He spent his nights becoming "commercially viable" by teaching himself graphic design for print and the internet. He's created work for many advertising, blue chip companies, and non-profit organizations and towards the end of 2006 he found he was unfulfilled and missed the creative life he had with art. At the start of 2007 he became a full-time artist.Graham's best known works are his mixed media pieces, paintings, and abstract photographs. His subject matter commonly deals with nature, urbanism, society, time, love, and humor. His pieces are conceptually bold and resonate the story behind them. Often times the medium he chooses will create a tension with the subject matter.Graham's inspiration is drawn from an emotional response from an addiction to life from which he views through a broad eye. He is concerned with severity and non-balance and often finds people and life to be scary and hilarious at the same time.Graham lives and works in New York City, and occasionally lends his mug and mouth to commercials and voiceovers, and can be heard creating music as oblib.
