The festival does not involve any actual exhibitions or physical works of art. Instead it invites its participants to open up their homes and rethink their way of life.\r\nThroughout the last six months, NEWLIFE COPENHAGEN has challenged the notion of Danish hospitality by asking families to provide free accommodation for climate guests whom they have never met. The climate guests are all foreigners who otherwise would not be able to attend COP15 because of lack of personal means or hotel overbooking.\r\nNEW LIFE COPENHAGEN hpas already enjoyed vast success. More than 3000 climate guests – both activists, NGOs and official delegates – will be accommodated at private homes through NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN, and this meeting of cultures is the focal point of the festival.\r\nBefore and during the climate conference, all participants, both climate guests and Danish hosts, will be offered the opportunity to participate in a series of events and happenings created by contributing artists, eg. Superflex (DK), Signa (A\/DK) and Maria Olson (US).\r\nFounders of Woloo.org, Sixten Kai Nielsen and Martin Rosengaard, who have initiated NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN, state:\r\n- Instead of inviting artists to contribute art for a traditional museum exhibition, we have chosen to utilize hospitality and the human encounter as an exhibition platform. The purpose of the festival is to create a breeding ground for alternative ways of living together. Individual solutions are not enough. In order to stop climate changes, we have to rethink our way of life\r\ncollectively.\r\nThis is the artist group Superflex’s point of departure for their contribution. Superflex will ask every participant to agree to a specially designed climate-friendly burial in case of death during the climate conference. Signa will produce a guest-\/ and host book in which the participants can evaluate each others lifestyles, and Marisa Olson will host the festival’s only public event on Copenhagen’s City Hall square during the climate conference.\r\nBesides the artists’ contributions, a select group of climate guests will challenge our way of life and the way we think. A group of indigenous leaders will perform shamanistic rituals and hunger strike activists will call for a nationwide fast – all off whom will be living with Danish families.\r\nAbout NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN is organized by the artists-run community Wooloo.org.\r\nWooloo.org is today used by more than 13.000 artists from over 140 countries. Wooloo.org projects have been presented in such places as Artists Space (USA), White Box (USA), Basel Kunsthalle (Switzerland), the Third Guanzhou Triennial (China) and New Life Berlin in 2008 (Germany).\r\nNEW LIFE COPENHAGEN is funded by The Danish Arts Council, Nordic Culture Point, The Branding Denmark Fund, The Danish Arts Foundation, People’s Climate Action, The Danish Society for Nature Conservation and the city of Copenhagen.\r\nFor more information: www.newlifecopenhagen.com \/ www.wooloo.org\r\nA selection of climate guests that NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN will provide accommodation for:\r\nRower, activist and environmentalist Roz Savage\r\nRoz Savage tries to raise awareness about climate changes through extreme sport. Roz has single-handedly rowed cross the Atlantic. During COP15, she will walk from Big Ben in London to Bruxelles. From Bruxelles she heads towards her host family in Copenhagen together with a group of other activists.\r\nHunger striking activists\r\nClimate Justice Fast! is an international hunger strike taking place from the 6th of November to the end of the Climate Conference on the 18th of December. Activists from Bangladesh to Mexico are eating no food and will drink only water to call for strong and just action on the climate crisis. During the conference, four hunger strikers will be living with a Danish family – accompanied by their own doctor. Two will fast for 30 days from November until COP15, and two fast solely on water during the 12 days of the climate conference.\r\nBrazilian professor and researcher in International Environmental Law, Gisele Ferreira de Araúju Ferreira de Araúju is a member of the official Brazilian delegation, but has not been able to secure accommodation at a hotel or hostel. He participates in COP15 and The Global Canopy Programme.\r\nChairman of the Ugandan Carbon Bureau, Bill Farmer\r\nScientist and PhD Bill Farmer participates in COP15 alongside his daughter. They are both members of the Ugandan Carbon Bureau who’s primary objective is teaching CO2 reduction and global warming in Africa.\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
