I am interested in making photographs that don't look like photographs. My various techniques are ways of isolating and concentrating the experience of seeing. There are, of course, great photos that are in focus, but sometimes photos have too much "reality" for my taste. And of course that's not really reality, but a kind of photographic reality, one which may not open the eye or the mind. I'm interested in a different kind of focus, one that lets the mind wander inward a little bit. And for me, pictures are abstract like words, rather than holy relics.
