Painting in oil on canvas, Gorak creates images that describe landmarks of the contemporary landscape - not monuments, but rather energy towers and irrigation systems and iron frameworks. Vast and sparsely beautiful, Gorak's landscapes are marked by human development. In her figurative works, she paints people within the landscape - whether natural or buttressed by industry - in intriguing but elusive narrative compositions.
