Circular Statements
In this body of work, I use disks of various kinds, mostly buttons and proto-buttons (created by drilling buttonholes in tin disks), arranged in various kinds of grids of steel wire. Early versions of the work used fine annealed steel wire in grids held off the wall to create shadows on the wall behind. More recent work -- such as recently appeared in the ON THE PLANET exhibit in Nagoya, Japan, an exhibit related to the issue of Biodiversity -- uses loose, unframed grids hanging by painted pushpins.
