Works

In my work my fascination for computers, technology, science fiction and machines meets my interest in the working of the subconscious. Hereby I especially make research into the shifting of perspective between unconscious and conscious looking, changes of context and what coincidence is about. Besides I make photos, photography is also very often the basis of my work. For the collages I use my own photos, but also images from advertisement leaflets, magazines and books. I cut these into arbitrary fragments, with which I then rebuild the image. Each fragment contains a part of the original meaning of the whole image. By my choice of material, influences from without (on), my thoughts, and the way the image is rebuild (for example 'blind' pasting, or very precise fitted, or in a specific range set on beforehand) I examine how the meaning of the image changes. I see this process as a form of technology which connects with the way our subconscious works, rather than a spiritual phenomena. By rebuilding the image and its meaning I'm mapping the subject. Therefore I rather call it mapping in stead of collage.
