Wigglies in my Apartment
I made biomorphic fragmentary objects out of fabric and cotton. I didn't know why I was making them. I just sort of felt like it. In an effort to understand them and why I wanted to make them, I drew pictures of the objects, made collages about them, painted them and placed them around my apartment. This exhibition shows the documentation of mini site-specific installations. Through this practice I started thinking of the soft objects as metaphors for the potential of a fragmented body. What happens when our organs or members of a group separate from the body and take on lives of their own? How would you feel if you saw a disembodied kidney slither across your living room floor, or a spleen pop out of your bathroom sink? What if these fragments were attractive like your lover's skin?
