Field Frag_Brescia 09
One in a continuation of a series of 'found object' works engraved with 'meta data' incorporating sound & video material relating to their site of origin. Field Frag_Brescia 09 was a sound sculpture exhibited at Liquid Architecture 9 at The Factory, Sydney 2009. The work involved the engraving of exact GPS (longitudinal & latitudinal) coordinates onto a piece of found glass indicating the exact location where it was found. The site of origin of this 'Field Frag' was the now abandoned & burnt out edifice once known as the Brescia Furniture building. Sound and videographic recordings were also made at the site and transmitted back through the glass using piezo electric transducers and a small LCD screen behind the glass. Piezo electric microphones were also contacted to the glass and viewers could listen to the sound vibrating through the glass via a pair of headphones. There are a new series of similar 'Field Frags' in development for an upcoming exhibition entitled CODED at Blacktown Art Center in 2010
