Sculptures & Design

Much of my work changes its physical state through a natural process.  Wood warps as a result of holding a pool of water, or concrete weathers back to the rock it is replacing. The work often examines the restoration of the organic through the application of the fabricated. What interests me is how to make the material’s life span part of the gesture or how to make an experience part of the object created. This push and pull of interactivity and material change keeps the object ephemeral, transforming it into a remnant. Solid objects seem to construct memory with some form of social contact. This memory may change the object or space as we forget what we did with it- like a material aging over time.
