CORPUS COLLECTIVE MANIFESTO We are the Corpus Collective based in New York City. FERALISM is our approach to work in which individual boundaries are blurred and personal content, be it physical or intellectual, is unleashed to move through an exchange of hands, moving it from a static domesticated state to an active feral state, thus opening it up to numerous creative possibilities through a metamorphosis or mutation within the frame of the collective. Through Feralism, the Corpus collective aims to transcend the traditional approach to artmaking by laying bare the process of both devising and constructing the work through constant documentation; making transparent and accessible the part of artmaking that gets covered up and hidden away in the studio when the "finished" work goes on display. We then move into a wider arena with respect to defining a work of art that doesn't begin and end within the confines of a pristine white cube. A work or idea that is bound by copyright is considered a domesticated work, serving only a specific scope and is useless to an artist working under Feralism. The Progression of art will supersede the necessity for such rigid guarding of an image or idea. Corpus Collective will utilize the concept of appropriation towards the evolution of image and/or idea. Every artist working within the collective must relinquish fully his/her contributing work or concept to the ownership of the collective. However, artists are not bound to create work solely for the collective, and are rather encouraged to retain their individual practice and career, parallel to the collective. All artists of the collective are bound by a full commitment to the group, no project can exist without the full participation of all members. A project will be complete only at the end of a cycle. A cycle is divided in equal parts amongst the artists of the group, and every artist will hold a power position within his/her meridian power share while the other artists are required to help him/her fully on the execution of his/her input. A project will be ready for public display only at the end of the completed cycle. No commercial venue will be allowed to display the final product. The work can only be presented within Not For Profit spaces, Public Institutions, or Direct to the Consumer, as Public event/action No project will exist more than once. Any created project which remains uncollected from a public showing must be destroyed at the close of exhibition and will exist only as a memory and a dossier containing all relevant documentation. No Corpus Project will be available for individual ownership and will only be available for purchase through public institutions. A contract will bind the institution to the piece for the life of the institution. No resale of a piece is allowed. Lending it to another public institution for a period of time is permitted.
