Barry W. Hughes (born Dublin, Ireland) received his BA in Fine Art Media from the National College of Art & Design, Ireland in 2005. His practice centres on photography and video which has been published and exhibited consistently throughout Ireland and internationally, including USA, UK, Germany, Denmark, Australia, the Philippines and China. 

Hughes is the founding editor/publisher of Ireland’s first online, international photography magazineSuperMassiveBlackHole. He has since curated exhibitions and reviewed portfolios for the likes of Belfast Photo Festival, PhotoIreland Festival and PhotoBook London. He is available for portfolio reviews and consultations.

Hughes chooses everyday objects and situations to explore ideas such as incidence, coincidence andaccident, motivated by a desire to understand the tension between the intentional and unintentional gesture. Many of his works are based on the reinterpretation of social, scientific or psychological histories and models which ultimately exist as visual metaphors.
