I am working with printed textiles, knitting, fashion...and everything I find on hand.I have been collecting fabrics most of my life---since my grandma taught me how to knit, I was fascinated by the time-consuming process of making textiles.I employ the combination of organic and man-made elements to make original fabrics. It has always been my inspiration since I grew up in Tokyo that has both urban landscapes and Japanese traditional atmosphere based on nature. I am also interested in how low-tech and high-tech materials/methods communicate through my works as well as how traditional textiles integrate with new idea of creation. It is important for me to use marriage of these conflict elements (just in opposite directions), because I believe that this kind of contradiction gives much more
