About
Black dominates my art.
I started my white charcoal on black paper drawings as a cathartic way of dealing with the absurdities and ironies of imprisonment and especially the Death Penalty. After a while I realized that it was the white which was coming out of the black, the light coming out of the darkness, hope coming out from the hopelessness and meaningless I encounter while working in jail as a Chaplain.
Through my art I want to give a face to the inmates who are either on Death Row or warehoused in one of California’s Prison.
Born in 1965 in Malta (Europe) I joined the Missionaries of Charity Brothers in Paris, For the past 12 years I have been working in jails and prisons in Colombia, Guatemala and Los Angeles.
