Alastair T. Willey creates poetic portals
using spaces that would often be ignored. From the video projected works to the printed image, he allows the viewer to experience the space. The viewer is often presented
with a life size projection of an existing space with an altered language, from the slight movements of his projected works or the presentation of the printed works. There is a sense of passion that the artist hopes to pass on, passion for the idea of space.
The method of photography is hopefully honest, with dust marks and lense flare, complimented in the method of presentation.
The video works have an echo of Gordon Matta Clark, with shifts and movements through space giving a feeling of breaking down walls and removing facades. His exploration of product to further push the method of presentation, allows the viewer to continually experience his work in different forms. |
