STATEMENT
From Klosterfelde:

Kirsten Pieroth's artistic method draws on appropriartion and displacement, inflicting subtle manipula-tions on everyday objects and situations to suggest a variety of possible readings.

In 2001, for example, she pumped a Berlin street puddle into water canisters and relocated the puddle in Albania by pouring the water out in an exhibition space of the First Tirana Biennial. For another work en-titled Dead Ant (2005), Pieroth used a Penguin edition of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes to squash an ant with the back cover of the book. Detective Story presents another humour-tinged inversion on de-tection: two Braille books, identical in format, cover and title that require a blind reader to spot that they do not contain the same story.
